Sorry, pets other than service dogs cannot be accommodated.

  • The Group and all members agree not to act or behave in any way or ways that actively violate the following values by which the MGA lives:

Universal Love - honoring the inherent divinity and interdependent unity of all life.

Hospitality - creating a sanctuary where mutual respect is fundamental, where people are welcome and cared for, discover and reveal the promise they carry within them, bring their differences and gifts to co-create a safe space for deep personal and collective learning, broad reflection, and renewed commitment.

Inclusive Community - welcoming all who are respectful of others and reaching out to groups that are marginalized by our culture.

Lifelong learning, spiritual deepening and prophetic transformation - cultivating transformation and spiritual development, thus inspiring and encouraging people to work throughout their lives with courage and love to make the world a better place.

Reverence for life and the natural world - respecting and caring for the natural world and affirming the inspiration humans derive from it.

Unitarian Universalist Principles - standing as the foundation of all our work:

  • The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
  • Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
  • Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
  • A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
  • The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
  • The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
  • Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

What to Bring

We provide linen rolls that include sheets, pillowcase, one bath towel and a washcloth, as well as blankets and pillows, at no extra cost. You will need to bring toiletries (including soap and shampoo), and might also want: an alarm clock, earplugs, flashlight, flip-flops or other shower shoes, extra blanket and warm clothes for cool weather, and swimsuit for warm weather, extra towels for the pool or personal use, rain gear, insect repellant, sunscreen. A small electric fan might be a good idea in very hot weather. If you plan on walking the Nature Trail or the Nurture Trail, we suggest that you wear hiking boots, long pants and long sleeves and use insect repellant to prevent tick and other insect bites. You are welcome to bring recreational equipment and toys to take advantage of our large athletic field.

Arrival and Departure Times

Unless otherwise arranged, please plan to arrive at Murray Grove no earlier than 3:00 p.m. on the first day of your stay. The departure time is no later than 1:00 p.m. on the last day.  Check-out time for guest rooms is usually 10:00 am, unless a quick turn-around necessitates an earlier check-out. A later check-out may be possible upon request.

Accessibility

We have some accessibility for people with limited mobility. All of our buildings are on one level, with one small step up. There are ramps into the Lodge and Weakley House, and hand rails in each bathroom. Shower stalls are not wheelchair accessible, but a shower chair is available. Please call with questions.

Ecological Awareness

It is our goal to become 100% green; any future enhancements will be undertaken with this firmly in mind. We would appreciate it greatly if you would help us in making our operations as environmentally friendly as possible: kindly turn off lights when not in use, conserve water, and use the recycling bins.

Internet Access

There is a wireless modem in the Fireside Room, covering the Lodge, but not the guest rooms.

Work Projects

We depend on help from our friends to make things around Murray Grove look better and run smoothly. Please consider asking us about participating in a short work project while you are at Murray Grove. We would be more than grateful if you did! All groups are encouraged to bring deer resistant flowers and bulbs to plant, helping us enhance our campus.

Fireplace and Campfires

There is a large brick fireplace in the Fireside Room for your use. Damper directions are inside the kindling box to the right of the fireplace. Our campfire circle is located in the courtyard. If you plan on using it, please notify us in advance so that a fire permit can be arranged. A member of the Group must be designated to be responsible for lighting, maintaining with a presence at all times and extinguishing the fire. Murray Grove does not have firewood available, so you will need to supply your own wood.

Pets

Sorry, pets other than service animals are not allowed. This is for the safety and comfort of other guests, including those with serious allergies.

Valuables

There are no locks on the guest room doors. Please keep valuables with you or locked in your vehicle. Murray Grove is not responsible for lost or stolen belongings.

Area Stores

You have the privacy of our 20 acres nestled back in the woods, and the convenience of a wide variety of area stores within one mile: supermarkets, department stores, hardware stores, liquor stores, restaurants, etc. Ask us for details.
