Come to Murray Grove and join UUs from other congregations throughout the region

for a day of celebration, exploration, music, connection and fun!

This past year’s theme:

HOMECOMING 2007: Rebooting the Human Heart:

Universalism as Humanity's Software Solution

Confirming our historic UU optimism

about the human potential for goodness, recent neuroscience studies at the National Institutes of Health in Washington indicate that human beings

seem to be "hard-wired" for altruism.

One way of understanding Universalism is that it is spiritual "software"

that can further inform and inspire human beings toward

goodness, compassion and love.

We will explore both the "hardware" and "software" components

of rebooting the human heart in these times

of so much violence, separation and despair.

Leading the day will be (among others):

Reverend Scott Alexander,

senior minister River Road Unitarian Church in Bethesda, MD.

Rev. Alexander is the editor or author of five books. He wrote The Relational Pulpit: Closing the Gap Between Pulpit and Pew, a book on preaching in the liberal tradition which is widely used in Unitarian Universalist seminaries and homiletics courses. He has been an Adjunct Professor of Homiletics at Andover Newton Theological School, and teaches preaching at other seminars around the continent. He has edited four popular Unitarian Universalist volumes: The Welcoming Congregation: Resources for Affirming Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Persons; AIDS and Your Religious Community: A hands-on Guide to Local Programming;

Salted With Fire: Unitarian Universalist Strategies for Sharing Faith and Growing Congregations; and Everyday Spiritual Practice: Simple Pathways for Enriching Your Life. Rev. Alexander is a widely sought after speaker, preacher and workshop leader in Unitarian Universalist circles, and is widely respected as a dynamic, inspiring American fiction,

attending fine arts events, and cooking for family and friends.

Ken Ewan,

music director at the UU Congregation in Cherry Hill, NJ,

will be joined by the choir and friends from Cherry Hill

and will offer a wide variety of wonderful music throughout the day.

Ken is a long-time conductor of church, school and community choruses in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He has recently run the choral programs at Camden County and Cumberland County Colleges as well as teaching music appreciation, theory, sight-singing and ear training.

Mr. Ewan has sung with many area choruses and as been an organizer and participant in

programs with composer/singer/guitarist Jim Scott, composer/conductor Nick Page,

and Melodie Feather (handbells) for UUCCH as well as the Song Leader

at the UUA General Assembly, St Louis.

Core of Fire Interfaith Dance Ministry

from the UU Congregation of Monmouth County, Lincroft, NJ,

will present their dance interpretations.

Core of Fire is choreographed by Carol Penn with gracious acceptance of dancers’ ideas.

We look forward to welcoming you on the 29th!

P.S. There is a rumor Thomas Potter will pay us another visit this year,

and you won’t want to miss that!
